What a community is here
A community on AlertCommunities is a real place — Kaneshie, Alajo, a campus, an estate — with the people who live or work in it. Joining one does three things: its leaders' announcements reach you, a check-in after an incident asks whether you are safe and shows the leaders who has not answered, and the issues you report there add up.
Finding yours
Open Communities. The ones near your saved places are listed first; the full directory is under All. A community shows its member count, its leaders and whether joining is open, by request, or invite-only. Tap Join.
Inside
- Rooms are the conversations — general, alerts, and any the leaders open. They are for neighbours, not the public.
- Issues is the prevention list: blocked drains, dark corners, dumping sites. Add one with a photo and a spot on the map; neighbours support it; when it clusters, the assembly is asked to act, and you are told when it is resolved.
- Check-ins appear after a verified incident inside the community's area: one tap says I'm fine or I need help.
Leaders and wardens
Leaders are members with extra buttons: announcements, check-ins, room settings. They are ordinary residents, verified by the platform or the assembly. If your community has no leader yet, you can ask to be one.
