Consent-first location sharing, safe zones, SOS — how to set it up well.
The rules of good protection
- Consent first: people you add should know and agree. SafeNet is a safety net, not surveillance.
- Share the minimum: scopes let you share arrivals without live location, or SOS only.
- Links expire and can be revoked any time — both sides are told.
A good family setup
- Add each child as a subject; install the app on their phone.
- Safe zones: home + school with school-hours windows.
- Share a link with the other parent (live location + SOS, no expiry).
- Grandparents: arrivals + SOS only.
When an alert fires
- Call first. Most alerts are a missed bus, not an emergency.
- If unreachable and inside a danger zone: use Lost-person mode and call 112.
